Marine Mechanical Engineer
We are in search of a mechanical engineer to join our firm of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers. You will be responsible for the design and/or coordination of a wide range of shipboard mechanical systems, including propulsion, steering, piping, HVAC, deck machinery, etc. You will also liaise with sub-consultants to manage the electrical design of a vessel. The candidate will require sound project management skills and the ability to work independently.
You will be joining a small firm so you must also be prepared to participate in other aspects of the company’s business, including stability calculations, inclining experiments, general arrangement design, barge inspections, ship surveys, construction management, structural design, FE analysis, etc. You will be required to produce AutoCAD drawings.
Requirements:
• Mechanical Engineering degree
• Registered Professional Engineer or EIT (engineer-in-training)
• 5 years experience in marine sector
• Previous design experience with piping systems
• Good computer skills including knowledge of AutoCAD
• Experience with FE analysis, Rhino, or CFD software would be an asset

Capilano Maritime Design Ltd. is new naval architecture design firm founded in 2007 and based in North Vancouver, BC, Canada. The company’s primary mission is the provision of engineering design and consulting services to the workboat industry. The typical vessels in this industry include barges, tugs, marine construction vessels, dredges, small ferries, crewboats, etc.
Capilano Maritime offer a very competitive compensation package, including full medical and dental package.
We may also consider a new graduate who would be trained under the guidance of professional engineers to fulfill the role described above.
