The Client

NWTFF is home to a hardworking community who work tirelessly to bring some of the best tasting fish in Great Slave Lake into restaurant distribution.

The Brief

The NWT fishermen will use the 34’ and 38’ Gillnetter fishing boats to harvest fish in Great Slave Lake. These vessels will be used as stepping stones to restore commercial fishing in the NWT. A viable fishing market in the NWT will create local jobs, and contribute to reducing food costs.

The Design

Focuses on logistics and functionality.

The vessel is designed for practicality and to withstand harsh conditions thanks to a significant dead rise angle. Made with aluminum and featuring a fast mono-hull, the vessel is designed to not exceed 15 Gross Tons. The working deck is free of obstacles to avoid hindering the crew when dragging fish totes around. It is also capable of self-draining when the vessel is at speed or stationary.

Wheelhouse is located forward, giving clear views of bow and sides. For daily operations the vessel has a fuel capacity of 238 US gallons (900 litres). Designed around a crew of five, the vessels can fit up to 12 fish totes. The propulsion system consists of a triple outboard propulsion with two Evinrude E-TEC G2 Model E300XU engines, and one E300ZU engine. The vessels can accommodate alternative engines to fit specific requirements.  This vessel is a sleek looking work machine, built for whatever conditions are thrown at it.
